WORK WILL PICK UP ON SMALL BUSINESS ID/IQ CONTRACTS, EM SAYS

By ExchangeMonitor

As industry officials await the competition of additional tasks under the 12 small business Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity cleanup contracts awarded last year by the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management, Ralph Holland of EM’s Consolidated Business Center says he expects more work will be offered in the future. “We’re always looking for opportunities, and every acquisition that is going to be coming up in the EM program will be looked at as a potential opportunity for use on the ID/IQs. We’re exploring opportunities to perhaps expand ordering procedures that might also increase use,” he said last week at the Energy Technology and Environmental Business Association conference in Knoxville, Tenn. So far only one task has been competed, cleanup work at Moab.

Holland added that EM’s first round of ID/IQ contracts, which expired last year, were slow to get started but ended up resulting in the competition of many tasks. “Hopefully, we’ll have a similar experience, the only difference between now and then is the budget environment that we are facing today. … With that caveat, I expect that we’ll see plenty of activity with the contracts.”
