Jeff Brunell, a longtime energy and defense executive, is now vice president of markets and strategy at Kiewit Nuclear Solutions.
Brunell, who announced his new position last week on LinkedIn, was previously with AtkinsRealis as a vice president of business development. He was with Atkins two years working on business deals with the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management and the National Nuclear Security Administration, among others.
Before Atkins, Brunell worked about 11 years with Crowley, a logistics and infrastructure company., according to his online profile. He has also worked as a contract specialist with the U.S. Army.
A Virginia-based small business, DH Technologies, has been awarded a $1.1 million information technology and software contract with the Department of Energy’s Portsmouth/Paducah Project Office.
The award posted online Monday in SAM.gov said the Leesburg-based, employee-owned company has won the computer-service related award with Lexington, Ky. Project office for the Paducah Site in Kentucky and the Portsmouth Site in Ohio.
The contract includes a Dell server room refresh, according to the online notice.
The Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management posted a new organizational chart online March 23, although it does not reflect much change, at least in the top ranks.
As was the case in late 2025, Tim Walsh is the Senate-confirmed assistant secretary or EM-1 while Joel Bradburne is the acting principal deputy assistant or EM-2. Alicia Stetin is chief of staff and John Howard is deputy chief of staff.
EM watchers will also note that DOE has yet to officially change the name of the cleanup office, a planned move that Walsh announced last month at the Waste Management Symposia in Phoenix.
Full On Communications, a firm that bills itself as a team of “nuclear communications experts,” is turning 10 years-old, Founder and CEO Jarrett Adams said in a Thursday press release.
Adams previously handled media for AREVA and was a writer for the Nuclear Energy Institute. “When I founded Full On Communications a decade ago, we were witnessing nuclear power plants closing prematurely across the United States, and the nuclear energy sector in the West was stagnant at best,” Adams said. “Today we are seeing unprecedented interest and investment in new nuclear technologies,” and Full On is involved with many key players, he added.
The Department of Energy’s Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) near Carlsbad, N.M., plans to hold a hybrid public meeting on Tuesday April 28.
The meeting is scheduled from noon until 1:30 p.m. Mountain Time and will originate from the Skeen-Whitlock Building on National Parks Highway in Carlsbad. Virtual registration is available here.
