In a series of agreements, President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman finalized and signed a Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement, according to a White House fact sheet released Tuesday.
The Joint Declaration on the Completion of Negotiations on Civil Nuclear Energy Cooperation, as it is called, cements a “civil” nuclear energy partnership between the two parties, and “confirms” U.S. companies will be Saudi Arabia’s choice for nuclear technology sharing “consistent with strong nonproliferation standards,” the fact sheet said.
Trump also said in the Oval Office Monday that the U.S. would sell F-35 advanced fighter jets, capable of carrying the B61-12 gravity bomb and recently tested carrying the bomb, to Saudi Arabia.
Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said on X Wednesday he informed the agency’s Board of Governors that off-site electricity has been restored to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, after a month without it, by repairing the Dniprovska and Ferosplavna power lines.
Grossi also said “more engagement is needed” to carry out inspections in Iran on facilities that were not affected by the U.S. and Israel’s attacks in June. Still, IAEA remains “in regular contact with Tehran” and continues “working toward a full return to normal verification activities,” he said.
Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign minister reportedly told Associated Press Nov. 16 the country is no longer enriching at any site in the country.
The International Uranium Film Festival will take place Nov. 21-23 in Las Vegas, Nev. with efforts to showcase films “exploring the detrimental impacts of nuclear weapons testing,” a press release from the Native Community Action Council said.
The festival will show films like “To Use a Mountain,” “Ways of Knowing,” “Silent War,” and “Under the Cloud.” “The Shoshone Nation still bears the deadly legacy of nuclear testing on our unceded lands, an act that violates our treaty, our land and our lives.” Laura Piffero of the NCAC said in the release.
