IN THE INDUSTRY

Three members of Babcock & Wilcox’s Board of Directors will be up for re-election at the company’s annual shareholder’s meeting May 1, B&W said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing late last week. The members up for reelection include Jan Bertsch, the executive vice president and chief financial officer of SigmaAldrich Corportation, as well as former AREVA NP Inc. President and CEO Thomas Christopher and former Washington Group International President and CEO Stephen Hanks. Bertsch has been on B&W’s Board of Directors since 2013; Christopher has been on the Board since 2011 and Hanks has been a member since 2010.

IN THE AIR FORCE

Teams of Air Force Global Strike Command airmen tested two unarmed Minuteman 3 missiles from Vandenberg AFB this week, according to a release. The first test was completed March 23 by Vandenberg’s 576th Flight Test Squadron and F.E. Warren AFB’s 90th Missile Wing. Missileers from Malmstrom AFB’s 341st Missile Wing assisted the 576th Flight Test Squadron with the second missile launch at 3:53 a.m. Pacific Time today. "An operational test launch requires hard work, months of preparation, and outstanding teamwork between personnel on both bases," said Lt. Col. Daniel Hays, the 341st Missile Wing Task Force Commander. "These launches are a visible reminder to both our adversaries and our allies of the readiness and capability of the Minuteman III weapon system, and without the dedication of the men and women from both the 576th and the 341st, this test could not have happened."
