WRPS LOOKING FOR COMPANIES TO ADDRESS HANFORD TRU TANK WASTE

By ExchangeMonitor

Hanford tank farms contractor Washington River Protection Solutions issued a request for expressions of interest late last week seeking companies that may be able to address tank waste considered to be transuranic material. The Department of Energy is looking to dispose of approximately 1.4 million gallons of waste in 11 of Hanford’s single-shell tanks considered to be transuranic material at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. WRPS is looking for companies that can retrieve, treat and package and characterize the waste for disposal. DOE is currently planning on issuing a Request for Proposals for the work in late Fiscal Year 2014 or early FY 2015, according to the notice. Interested companies have until Aug. 15 to respond to WRPS’ request for expressions of interest.
