Y-12 prime shops for office space near Oak Ridge

By ExchangeMonitor

Consolidated Nuclear Security (CNS), the Bechtel-led contractor team that oversees the Y-12 National Security Complex, is looking at office space near the facility in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

CNS recently took in expressions of interest (EOI) from potential suppliers of office space located within five to 20 miles of the Y-12 complex at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Site, according to an online procurement notice.

The management contractor for Y-12 said it was looking to lease a building “suitable for overflow office space” in Anderson, Knox or Roane County, Tenn.

“This facility will need approximately 30,000-60,000 square feet of office space and will include multiple hard wall offices, conference rooms, space to install computer work stations (ie. cubicles), telephone and networking capabilities, bathroom facilities, as well as break areas,” according to the notice posted on SAM.gov. The building should have adequate parking also, according to the notice.

Responses to the expressions of interest solicitation were due Friday, Oct. 31. CNS is interested in a lease with a five-year base period that could be renewed in one-year extensions.

The CNS notice included the usual disclaimer that the EOI does not ensure a request for proposals will be issued.

“Please note that this is not a request for proposal and is not to be construed as a commitment by CNS to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract,” according to the notice. “Market research is being conducted at this time for the sole purpose of determining interest and capability of potential sources to meet the needs of CNS,”

CNS is made up of Bechtel National, Leidos, ATK Launch Systems, and SOC LLC, with Booz Allen Hamilton as a teaming subcontractor.
