LANL Executive Director Resigns

Richard Marquez, executive director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), resigned this week from his position at the lab, the Santa Fe New Mexican reported. The article was based on an internal memo from LANL Director Charles McMillan to employees obtained by the newspaper. The circumstances under which Marquez resigned after over 15 years of lab employment remain unclear, according to the newspaper. It added that the internal memo named Craig Leasure, LANL principal associate director for operations and business, as interim executive director.

Officials at LANL had not responded to a request for comment on the situation by deadline Friday.
