Hanford cleanup contractor CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation has named two new vice presidents, splitting up the work of Ty Blackford, the former vice president of decommissioning, waste and fuels, and remediation services. Blackford was named tank closure and regulatory director at Savannah River Remediation, the liquid waste contractor at the Savannah River Site. CHPRC chief executive officer John Ciucci created the sludge treatment project and the waste, fuels and remediation services project effective June 15. Making sludge treatment a separate project will allow the contractor to increase its strong focus on that critical effort, he said. The waste, fuels and remediation services organization will continue to manage treatment, storage, disposal and transport of hazardous and radioactive wastes.
Raymond Geimer has been named vice president of the sludge treatment project starting June 15. He comes to Hanford from CH2M Hill B&W in West Valley, where he was vice president and deputy general manager. He also has held senior positions at the Integrated Waste Treatment Unit for CH2M – WG Idaho and worked at Hanford when CH2M Hill held the tank farm contract. He has 31 years of experience in radioactive waste management, nuclear and facility engineering, nuclear facility operations, large-scale deactivation and demolition, and nuclear facility construction.
Connie Simiele has been named vice president of waste, fuels and remediation services starting June 15. She has most recently served as director of waste and fuels management for CHPRC. She also served as the transition project manager for the Hanford Plutonium Finishing Plant Closure Project and will continue to serve in that capacity. She has 27 years of leadership experience in facility operations, safety, health and quality assurance. Kelley Wooley will continue to serve as acting vice president of decommissioning, waste and fuels, and remediation services until the reorganization is effective.
