SRNS Expands Mentor-Protégé Program

WC Monitor
9/5/2014

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, the managing contractor for the Savannah River Site, is expanding its mentor-protégé program with the award of longer-term contracts to up to three small businesses, the company announced this week. The program aims to build relationships and experience working with small businesses. Previously the contracts under the program lasted just days or a few months, but SRNS recently signed a multi-year contract with US&S of Greenville, S.C. “Working with Mentor-Protégé subcontractors synergistically improves our ability to meet our contractual responsibilities to DOE,” Dawn Moore, SRNS Manager, Supply Chain Management Policy & Compliance, said in a statement. “At the same time, it creates numerous opportunities for our company to work closely with each of these small businesses with a goal to nurture and enhance their economic and technical capabilities.”

SRNS plans to award long-term contracts to two more small businesses under the program. “We’re still working out details before we will see their personnel on site,” said Moore.  “However, they too will greatly benefit us towards fulfilling our missions and day-to-day work faster and more cost effectively.”
