The Senate has agreed to a cloture motion that could clear the way for the chamber to vote on President Donald Trump’s nomination of James Danly to be deputy secretary of energy.
The Senate in a voice vote on Thursday May 8 agreed to “proceed to executive session’” for consideration of the Danly nomination, according to a Senate nominations website.
Danly, a former member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, was passed out of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee in April. He was nominated to be DOE’s deputy secretary by President Trump on Jan. 22.
If confirmed, Danly would be second-in-command at DOE to Secretary of Energy Chris Wright.
