DNFSB Headed to New Mexico for Public Hearing on LANL

The Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board said Friday it has scheduled a public hearing in Santa Fe, N.M., on June 7 to discuss safety concerns at the Los Alamos National Laboratory’s main nuclear production area, the Technical Area 55 Plutonium Facility.

The session will begin at 5 p.m. Mountain time and runs through 9:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center, 201 W. Marcy St., according to a DNFSB announcement. That includes a public comment period.

During the two sessions, the five members of the independent nuclear safety panel will join officials with the National Nuclear Security Administration and Los Alamos National Laboratory to discuss various aspects of Plutonium Facility safety controls..
