The Department of Energy this week issued a final Request for Proposals for the new contract to manage Nuclear Regulatory Commission-licensed facilities at the Department’s Idaho site and in Colorado. The final RFP drops the commitment for the three key personnel from four years to a two-year period, a provision that had been a concern of some industry officials. The new contract, which is being set aside for small businesses meeting a $38.5 million size standard, would cover work at the Fort St. Vrain facility in Colorado; the Three Mile Island-2 Independent Spent Fuel Storage facility at the Idaho Nuclear Technology and Engineering Center (INTEC) in Idaho; and the Idaho Spent Fuel Facility (ISFF) license. A briefing and site tour will be held at Fort Saint Vrain on April 14 and at the Three Mile Island 2 facility in Idaho April 16. Questions are due by April 10 and responses are due by April 30.
