DOE Sec. Moniz to Discuss Project Management Improvements This Week

By ExchangeMonitor

Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz is set to discuss DOE’s latest effort to improve project management in remarks to the National Academy of Public Administration on Jan. 15. Last month, DOE released the findings of a Contract and Project Management working group assembled by Moniz that identified as areas in need of improvement insufficient front-end planning, inadequate funding, a lack of sufficient independent oversight and “unclear ownership” of projects within the Department. Among the steps DOE has taken in response to the working group’s findings is strengthening the Energy Systems Acquisition Advisory Board (ESAAB), creating a new Project Management Risk Committee consisting of senior project managers. Moniz’s remarks are scheduled to take place at the University Club in Washington beginning at 9:30 a.m.
