The Department of Energy announced Monday that Rick Stockburger was appointed as chief executive officer of the Foundation for Energy Security and Innovation (FESI),
FESI is the DOE’s first independent agency-related foundation, the press release said, and it aims to accelerate commercializing energy technology, including next-generator nuclear technology, and expand collaboration between the private and public sector.
Stockburger is a U.S. Army veteran who served in Kosovo and Afghanistan before transferring to the energy sector. Prior to FESI, he was president and CEO of the Warren, Ohio-based energy-focused business “incubator” BRITE Energy Innovators, where he generated more than $250 million across the Midwest, the press release said.
“Today’s announcement marks a new chapter in how the Department will deliver breakthrough technologies to market,” Secretary of Energy Chris Wright said in the press release. “Rick’s proven leadership and background will help advance the Department’s efforts to move emerging technologies into real world energy deployment.”
