Former BWXT pres now dean of Liberty University School of Engineering

By ExchangeMonitor

Kenneth Camplin, formerly president of the BWX Technologies’ Nuclear Services Group in Lynchburg, Va., has been appointed as the new dean of the School of Engineering at nearby school Liberty University.

As president of the Nuclear Services Group from 2017 onward, Camplin oversaw commercial nuclear and technical services, as well as operations in business development and any activities in the Department of Energy and its semiautonomous National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) that manages the nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile. He was previously the chief business development officer at BWX Technologies (BWXT), and has worked at the company for over 30 years.

Prior to his time at BWXT, Camplin earned a master’s degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia, a master’s in business administration from Loyola University of Chicago, and a bachelor’s of science in metallurgical engineering and materials science from the University of Notre Dame.

“My hope is that my long career in the technological industry can be a complement to the outstanding faculty in the engineering department and a benefit to its student body,” Camplin said in a press release by Liberty University.

BWXT leads a joint venture that in October won a $4.7 billion contract for liquid waste management at DOE’s Savannah River Site in South Carolina. BWXT is also part of the teams that manage the NNSA’s Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore nuclear-weapon laboratories.
