A familiar face in Energy Department nuclear cleanup circles, Cathy Hickey, has joined Tennessee-based Navarro Research and Engineering as executive vice president.
Hickey joined the company Nov. 1 and will work out of Navarro’s Oak Ridge, Tenn., office, a spokesperson said by email Friday. Hickey succeeds Bob Eby, who will remain with the company on a part-time basis.
Hickey has more than 30 years of management experience in the DOE environmental remediation sector. Most recently, she served as president at Westinghouse Government Services since June 2016. The company’s corporate parent, Westinghouse Electric, was sold from Toshiba to Brookfield Business Partners, a global asset management firm, earlier this year. The deal, valued at $4.6 billion, was announced in January and closed in August.
Hickey has also worked at Bechtel, CH2M Hill, and URS Corp. Her longest tenure was at Bechtel, where she spent 21 years in various roles, from 1982 through 2003, according to her LinkedIn profile.
“We are very excited to welcome Cathy to our team. Her industry knowledge and demonstrated leadership will strengthen our business growth strategy.” said Susana Navarro-Valenti, president and founder of Navarro, in a press release. “Cathy’s role will be to lead Navarro’s strategic growth initiatives.”
In her new post, Hickey will provide strategic business development support, community engagement, and pursue strategic partnerships to strengthen Navarro’s presence in the federal market.
A woman-owned subcontractor in the DOE complex, Navarro is involved in remediation, decommissioning and demolition, and waste management projects. Navarro currently holds the five-and-half year contract, valued at $80 million, for the environmental program services contract at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS).
