Federal agencies in June will host three town hall meetings in Arizona for former, retired, and current nuclear weapons workers and their survivors on the benefits offered to them by the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act, the Department of Labor announced Thursday.
The legislation offers compensation and medical benefits to employees made ill through their work in the nuclear weapons industry and, in some cases, to their survivors.
The Labor Department and other agencies will hold the meetings on June 7 at 6 p.m. Mountain time and June 8 at 10 a.m. at the Doubletree by Hilton in Flagstaff, Ariz., and on June 9 at 10 a.m. at the Moenkopi Legacy Inn and Suites in Tuba City, Ariz.
Government representatives will offer information and question-and-answer sessions to attendees during the meetings, and will help those eligible to file compensation claims. Discussions will also cover benefits for uranium miners, millers, and ore transporters under the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act, the Labor Department said.
