Hruby to talk arms control at first in-person Nuke Fest in two years

By ExchangeMonitor

The head of the National Nuclear Security Administration was scheduled to discuss arms control Thursday at a major nuclear-policy conference in Washington.

Agency Administrator Jill Hruby was set to speak alongside Bonnie Jenkins, under secretary for arms control and international security, in an evening session at the biennial Carnegie International Nuclear Policy Conference.

The session, titled “A Keynote Conversation on the Future of Arms Control,” was set to begin just after 5 p.m. Eastern time at the show, colloquially known as Nuke Fest and returning to in-person attendance after an online program in 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Much of Nuke Fest will stream online at YouTube this year, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace said. Carnegie capped in-person attendance this year over concerns about the ongoing pandemic. The group requires all in-person attendees to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
