William (Ike) White who led the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management for five years has been appointed to the advisory board for the Department of Energy alumni network.
White’s appointment, along with two other advisory board members, was announced in a Friday LinkedIn post by the DOE alumni network, an organization formed in the wake of President Donald Trump’s sweeping 2025 cutbacks at DOE and other federal agencies.
White who retired from federal service at the outset of Trump’s second term, served in a variety of posts during his 32-year government tenure, including chief of staff at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and worked in various staff positions at the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB).
White was nominated to become a member of the DNFSB late in the administration of President Joe Biden but his nomination was not taken up by the full Senate.
Also appointed to the DOE Alumni advisory board during the past week were Carla French and Michelle Roos. French is a former deputy director of DOE’s Office of Policy. Roos heads the Environmental Protection Network.
