Letter to the Editor: Charitable Support at 2017 Waste Management Symposia

By Opinion

By James Voss

The 2017 Waste Management Symposia was held in early March in Phoenix. We are extremely pleased at the results and the extent of our charitable educational support.

At the symposia, we awarded 21 scholarships, funded a fellowship at Gonzaga University, funded Florida International University’s participation, and awarded six scholarships to STEM teachers to participate in the HPS/WMS STEM training.

Since 2002, Waste Management Symposia and its affiliate, the Roy G. Post Foundation, have contributed $3 million to educational support. This has been made possible by the participants, exhibitors, and sponsors of the symposia, as well as those who participate in the Post Foundation Golf Tournament: a charitable event.

We thank all of those who supported this year’s Waste Management Symposia, especially the Department of Energy, Longenecker & Associates, Fluor, AECOM, Kurion/Veolia, Westinghouse, and CH2M.

The author is the managing director of Waste Management Symposia, Inc.
