Lynchburg, Va., -based BWX Technologies (BWXT) has tapped industry executive Suzanne Maddux as its senior vice president for operations, reporting directly to CEO Rex Geveden, the company said last week.
In this role, Maddux “will support the company’s continued growth in nuclear national security and commercial nuclear power markets,” BWXT said in an Aug. 20 press release. In the new job she will concentrate on “strengthening the connection between BWXT’s Government Operations and Commercial Operations organizations to maximize shared learning, leverage combined strengths and replicate proven practices across the enterprise.”
Maddux, who holds an engineering degree from the University of Michigan, comes to BWXT from Mercury Systems, where she was vice president of global supply chain, BWXT said in the release. She also spent 18 years in senior-level jobs with RTX/Raytheon.
“Suzanne brings deep operational expertise and a proven ability to unify complex organizations,” Geveden said in the release. “As we execute on our robust backlog, sharpen our operational alignment and scale for future growth, Suzanne’s leadership will be central to helping ensure we are structured for long-term success.”
“There is a lot of important work ahead, and I couldn’t be more excited to be part of it,” Maddux said last week in a LinkedIn post announcing her new position.
As a company, BWXT touches nearly every sector of the nuclear industry, from commercial nuclear power and fuel, to nuclear weapons cleanup site partnerships to naval nuclear propulsion.
