NEW OAK RIDGE SECURITY CONTRACTOR REVEALS MORE MGMT. DETAILS
With the threat of a protest now gone, new Oak Ridge security contractor National Strategic Protective Services released more details about its management team yesterday, revealing that former B&W Y-12 security official Steven Ross would serve as protective force director and Triple Canopy executive Kyle Lang would head up the new company’s business operations. NSPS also said that transition from previous contractor WSI-Oak Ridge was on track to be completed by March 24, and that 98 percent of the incumbent workforce had applied to work for NSPS. “As a new member of the Oak Ridge community, NSPS is working closely with the Department of Energy and will drive a seamless transition of protective force services by March 24th,” NSPS spokesperson Jayanti Menches said in a statement. “We are gratified that a majority of the incumbent work force has applied to be a part of the NSPS team, which will ensure consistency of a trained and qualified force.”
With B&W Y-12, Ross served as the director of personnel security and physical security under the company’s Safeguards, Security and Emergency Services directorate until February of 2012. Ross also served for 30 years in the Air Force, leaving as the Chief of Force Protection for U.S. Transportation Command. Lang last managed Tripe Canopy’s $700 million subcontract for Kuwait Base Operations Security Support Services, and previously managed 30 Pentagon contracts at Triple Canopy’s Forward Operating Base in Baghdad, Iraq. NSPS had already announced that former WSI official Greg McDowell would serve as the company’s general manager.
