North Wind, as expected, officially named Chris Leichtweis yesterday as its new President and Chief Strategic Officer. WC Monitor first reported in mid-June that Leichtweis was the top candidate to replace North Wind’s retired founder, Sylvia Medina, as president. Leichtweis previously served as senior vice president at Perma-Fix Environmental Services after it purchased Safety and Ecology Corporation, which he founded in 1991. Leichtweis has also previously worked for Bechtel National and Chem-Nuclear Systems, Inc. “We are excited to welcome Chris to North Wind and the CIRI family of companies. His experience in the industry will ensure a smooth transition as he takes the helm of North Wind. Our talented group of companies looks forward to a bright future under his leadership,” North Wind Group Chief Executive Officer Gregory Razo said in a release.
