The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will host several webinars during the week of Aug. 3 to Aug. 7 going over its recent proposed rulemaking that would make extensive changes to nuclear licensing processes.
NRC will have three webinars, via Microsoft Teams, to provide an overview of the rulemaking followed by a question-and-answer session. The discussions will be hosted by several NRC staff members. The rulemaking, triggered by President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 14300, was published on July 16.
The dates and times (all expressed in Eastern Time) are as follows: The first webinar will be held on Aug. 3 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The second will be on Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The third and final one will be Aug. 6 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Details on each webinar were not provided in the meeting’s memo.
NRC said in a press release earlier this month this proposed rulemaking is the “most comprehensive update” to nuclear licensing in decades. The agency said it has proposed changes to its regulations across all stages of a nuclear power plant’s lifecycle.
