Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-Tenn.) who chairs a key House Appropriations subcommittee and is a vocal advocate for the Oak Ridge Site and the Department of Energy, took to X Tuesday afternoon to cite the death of country music superstar and entrepreneur Dolly Parton at age 80.
“Tennessee has lost a true icon with the passing of Dolly Parton,” Fleischmann said on the social media platform. “Her extraordinary talent, generosity, and love for our community touched countless lives and made us proud. Her legacy will live on in her music, her philanthropy and in the hearts of all who admired her.”
According to an Internet search, Parton grew up in a cabin in Sevier County, which is about a 90-minute car trip to Oak Ridge, Tenn. Parton has publicly-acknowledged health problems in the past year.
