The Department of Energy’s nuclear cleanup branch has contracted a small business out of Tempe, Ariz., for the Infrastructure Support Services contract at the Portsmouth Site at Piketon, Ohio.
In a Friday Oct. 30 news release, DOE’s Office of Environmental Management said the new potential five-year contract was being awarded to AIS Technical Services.
The Friday contract announcement does not appear to list a contract value, although the current contract held by North Wind Dynamics is valued at about $174 million. It began in January 2022 and is scheduled to run through Dec. 6, 2026, according to an online DOE summary.
The contract includes a three-year base period and two one-year option periods. There will be a 60-day transition period from the current contractor.
Infrastructure Support covers responsibility for maintaining roads and grounds and a slew of other chores including telecommunications and mail services.
“Following a competitive procurement process, EM determined the ATS proposal provides the best value to the government considering key personnel, organization and management approach, past performance and price,” according to the news release.
