President Donald Trump is expected to address the nation Wednesday evening at 9 p.m. Eastern time and give an update on the U.S. military presence in Iran.
According to CNBC, Trump told reporters at the White House Tuesday he expected U.S. military forces to leave Iran in “two or three weeks” because “there’s no reason for us to do this.”
Trump also said on Truth Social on Wednesday that “Iran’s New Regime President, much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE!”
“We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear,” Trump added. “Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!”
Congressional lawmakers are still awaiting answers on a potential ground operation to retrieve Iran’s remaining enriched uranium, as well as the full cost of the past month of military operations.
