Sandia Office Space Being Cleaned Up After Confirmed COVID-19 Case

By ExchangeMonitor

Sandia National Laboratories was preparing Tuesday to reopen its MO285 office space after deep-cleaning the area after an employee there tested positive for COVID-19, the nuclear-weapons engineering hub said.

Only one employee working at MO285 tested positive, the labs network wrote in a statement Monday, when it began the deep cleaning that typically allows work spaces to reopen within a day or two. Sandia can test its own employees for COVID-19 and will do so at employees’ request.

Anybody who had contact with the infected employee was to get notification from management by Tuesday, according to the statement.

As of last week, Sandia had confirmed 63 cases of COVID-19 among its workforce, none of them fatal.

Meanwhile, other Sandia spaces were slated to reopen Wednesday for normal operations following COVID-19-related deep cleanings: buildings T7, T9 and T10.
