The Senate Armed Services Committee will hear testimony Tuesday morning from President Donald Trump’s nominee for principal deputy administrator for the Department of Energy’s semi-autonomous National Nuclear Security Administration.
Vice Admiral Scott Pappano, the administration’s nominee to be principal deputy administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration, is scheduled to testify alongside a defense nominee during a confirmation hearing Tuesday to start at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time in Dirksen Senate Office Building, room G50.
Pappano’s most recent position was principal military deputy assistant secretary of the Navy from July 2024, according to his bio on the Navy’s website. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, and holds a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
