Several inches of snow forecast for Los Alamos

Several inches of snowfall are expected between now and Friday at the Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow flurries accounting for less than an inch of accumulation were forecast Wednesday night in Los Alamos followed by new snowfall of four-to-eight inches on Thursday, according to the local forecast on weather.gov.

The chance of snow during daytime Thursday is about 100% and 50% Thursday night, according to the forecast. Temperatures should remain below freezing between now and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Pajarito Mountain, the ski resort near the lab, had 44 of its 53 trails and four of its six lifts open as of Tuesday, according to the resort’s website.
