Snow storm forces limited ops at Portsmouth

By ExchangeMonitor

The Department of Energy’s environmental cleanup contractor at the Portsmouth Site carried out only essential operations Monday due to a snow emergency in Pike County, Ohio, according to a Facebook post.

“Due to Pike County declaring a level three snow emergency Fluor-BWXT at the Department of Energy Portsmouth site is entering limited operations,” according to the contractor’s Sunday post on Facebook.  Non-essential dayshift personnel were told not to report to work on Monday Jan. 6 and essential folks were told to check in with their bosses for instructions.

“Those capable of teleworking should be logged on at normal start times,” according to the Sunday post.

According to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, a level 3 snow emergency is where all roads are closed to non-emergency personnel. More than a half-foot of snow was recorded Sunday around the Portsmouth Site with a lesser amount expected Monday, according to local media reports.
