Here are some events related to defense and civilian nuclear matters that Exchange Monitor staff are tracking this week.

19: National Academies. Public meeting. Independent Study on Potential Environmental Effects of Nuclear War. This fourth meeting about the study focuses on climate modeling done by Department of Energy national laboratories. 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Eastern time. Streaming online.

20: Meeting. The Atlantic Interstate Low-Level Radioactive Waste Management Compact. 1201 Main St., Suite 250, Columbia, S.C., 29201. Near the statehouse. Agenda online.

20: Meeting: The Department of Energy’s Site-Specific Advisory Board for the Nevada National Security Site meets starting at 4 p.m. Pacific Time. The meeting will originate from the Molasky Corporate Center, 15th Floor Conference Room, 100 North City Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89106. To attend virtually, email Barbara Ulmer, board administrator, by Sept. 18 at  [email protected].

22: Meeting: The New Mexico Environment Department will hold a public meeting starting at 5 p.m. Mountain Time on the new permit for the Department of Energy’s Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. Meetings will be held in person and via Webex from Carlsbad and Santa Fe.

NEW: Via public records request, I’ve been able to confirm reporting today that a warrant has been issued for DOE deputy asst. secretary of spent fuel and waste disposition Sam Brinton for another luggage theft, this time at Las Vegas’s Harry Reid airport. (cc: @EMPublications)
