Time Draws Near for NNSA Annual Contractor Report Cards

By ExchangeMonitor

Some contractors around the U.S. nuclear security enterprise have already gotten a look at their annual performance evaluations for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, even while the documents have not yet been made public, an informed source said.

In 2018, the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) released performance evaluations for contractors at most of its field sites during the third week of January. In 2017, the deluge came a couple weeks earlier.

There are eight scorecards due, though one of these encompasses the Y-12 National Security Complex at Oak Ridge, Tenn., and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas, which are both managed by Consolidated Nuclear Security.

The reports reveal how much of their annual fees each contractor earned. Many of the NNSA’s site management contractors have at-risk fees the agency can adjust based on how well, or not, they succeeded in their missions over the past year. The scorecards also include descriptions, sometimes the first to be published, of major milestones and incidents at the NNSA’s three weapons design facilities, four production plants, and the Nevada National Security Site.
