The contractor managing construction of the Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility at the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site in South Carolina this week issued a request for proposals for a fixed-price subcontract to install HVAC ductwork for the project.
CB&I AREVA MOX Services said the subcontract will involve the installation of ductwork, supports, and in-line devices in ductwork systems in rooms at the MOX Fuel Fabrication Building, the manufacturing area that consists of the MOX Processing Area, the Aqueous Polishing Area, and the shipping and receiving area. The building contains roughly 1.3 million pounds of ductwork.
“The scope of work is for labor, construction supervision, tools, equipment, and consumable materials required to install the HVAC systems,” the scope of work document said. CB&I AREVA MOX Services will supply all necessary permanent equipment and materials.
The contractor intends to make one award for the work and will evaluate offers based on a determination of “best value,” with an emphasis on each bidder’s technical proposal. Bids are due by March 16; prospective bidders can find proposal instructions on fedbizopps.gov. A preproposal conference is being held today at the contractor’s Savannah River Site offices near Aiken, S.C.
The National Nuclear Security Administration is extending for seven weeks its task order with TechSource Inc., for technical support services for the agency’s Office of Major Modernization Programs, according to a notice posted this week.
This NNSA office is responsible for the execution of weapon-related modernization programs in support of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, “from requirements definition through First Production Unit (FPU) for weapons,” the notice said. TechSource will continue to offer support in the areas of information management, construction management, infrastructure and facilities management, and program capability-based investments, it said.
TechSource’s current task order expired over the weekend; the modification extends the period of performance to March 31. Although the extension is valued at $89,595.57, the total $4.1 million ceiling price remains unchanged, the notice said.
