Washington River Protection Solutions, tank prime at the Department of Energy’s Hanford Site in Washington state, has extended its bid deadline until Thursday for subcontractors to assist with quality assurance on the Tank Side Cesium Removal project.
Responses to the request for proposals were originally due on Monday, Dec. 12. But in a Dec. 8 procurement notice, the Amentum-led contractor in charge of radioactive tank waste management extended the bid deadline until Thursday, Dec. 15.
Washington River Protection Solutions is in the market for a subcontractor to help with the procurement, fabrication, and testing of replacement ion exchange columns for Hanford’s the Tank Side Cesium Removal project. The removal of cesium and solids prepares the waste for conversion into a glass for at the Direct-Feed-Low-Activity Waste Facility at the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant.
Maryland-based Amentum has hired a former Cavendish Nuclear boss, Loren Jones, to lead its national security group’s international business line, Amentum said in a Tuesday press release.
Jones joined Amentum this month as managing director and senior vice president of the Amentum security group’s international business. He will head nuclear, security and environment business for clients internationally, with a European focus.
Jones reports to Mark Whitney, president of Amentum’s National Security Group.Previously, Jones was an international business director for Cavendish in the United Kingdom, where he oversaw business in Japan, Canada, United States, and elsewhere, Amentum said in the release. Jones has held posts with Hyde Group, Nuvia, and Westinghouse Electric. He currently chairs the Northern Nuclear Alliance in the United Kingdom.
Ailie MacAdam, president of Bechtel’s National’s Mining & Metals global business unit, has been appointed to the Virginia-based company’s board of directors.
MacAdam has been with Bechtel 37 years, serving in key roles across various locations and industries, the company said in a Dec. 1 press release. She has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Influential Women in Engineering by the Women’s Engineering Society, according to her online bio.
In the press release, Bechtel Chair and CEO Brendan Bechtel called MacAdam a valuable addition to the board. “Ailie is widely recognized not only for her outstanding technical ability to solve some of the world’s most complex engineering and construction challenges, but also for her extraordinary skills managing large and diverse teams and building relationships of trust with our customers.”
