IN THE INDUSTRY

Engineering company Amec Foster Wheeler plc and Societe Générale Corporate & Investment Banking were selected last week as leading advisors for the development of the United Kingdom’s Teesside Industrial CCS Network. The network, which is being spearheaded by Tees Valley Unlimited, would initially consist of four Teesside plants; the SSI steel works, the Growhow ammonia plant, the BOC industrial gases provider and the Lotte PET facility, with a carbon capture potential of 7 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year, according to a TVU press release. Amec Foster Wheeler plc will be tasked with developing an engineering design and cost estimate for the project and Societe Générale Corporate & Investment Banking will provide financial advice to “ensure that the project is financially viable and competitive,” according the release.
