In one of its final evaluations for work in Oak Ridge, Department of Energy protective force contractor WSI earned nearly $1 million, and 93 percent of the at-risk fee for work at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and other DOE facilities during the second part of Fiscal Year 2012. WSI-Oak Ridge earned $568,379 in award fee and $421,022 in base fee, according to a letter from DOE Oak Ridge Office Manager Larry Kelly released this week by the Department. Reeling from the July 28 security breach at the Y-12 National Security Complex, WSI-Oak Ridge bid unsuccessfully to retain its Oak Ridge work earlier this year, and is in the process of transitioning to new contractor National Strategic Protective Services, a joint venture of Triple Canopy, Inc. and Securiguard, Inc. WSI-Oak Ridge’s performance during the second half of FY 2012 nearly matched its performance during the first half of the year, when it earned $1.07 million and 93 percent of its award fee ($621,709). DOE spokesman Mike Koentop declined to provide additional details about WSI-Oak Ridge’s performance, and a letter from Kelly to the contractor also did not provide information about what the contractor did right or wrong during the evaluation period.
