The Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s fiscal year 2027 budget request will be the subject of a House Energy panel hearing on Wednesday.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Energy subcommittee will also discuss NRC’s implementation of the Advanced Nuclear for Clean Energy Act – or the ADVANCE Act and Executive Order 14300, during the hearing.
All five of NRC’s commissioners, Bradley Crowell, Matthew Marzano, Ho Nieh, Doug Weaver and David Wright, will testify before the House Energy subcommittee.
According to the April 22 hearing memo, NRC’s fiscal 2027 budget request is $878 million. With the addition of its Office of Inspector General, the full agency request ends up being $892.3 million. This request is a decrease of $79 million or nearly 8% compared to the fiscal 2026 budget of $971.4 million.
The session is scheduled for 10 a.m. Eastern Time in 2123 Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
