Enresa, the public company charged with dealing with Spain’s high level nuclear waste, put out a tender late last week for construction of its Centralized Temporary Storage of Villar de Cañas (Cuenca). The procurement calls for a maximum bidding amount of approximately $218 million euro ($282 million U.S. dollars) over a period of 58 months following the signing of the contract in February 2015. According to a release from the company, “The purpose of the tender is [for]the procurement of the execution of the main civil works of nuclear facilities and those required ATC auxiliary facilities located within or outside the so-called "protected area" (double walled) except the office building,” Enresa said.
The scope of the work in the contract includes the following buildings: Reception Building, Building Processes, Modules 1 and 2 phases Storage, Storage Containers Wait, Storage Module Special Waste Containers Maintenance Workshop, Laboratory of Fuel Radioactive Waste and Spent, building radioactive waste, General Services Building, Auxiliary Building Services, Technical Services Building, Electrical Building, Physics Building Security Building Access Control, Warehouse gas, empty container parking area, safety fencing and other ancillary facilities as defined in the construction project. Companies have until Oct. 27 to submit their proposals.
