By ExchangeMonitor
Navy Strategic Systems Programs intends to award a sole-source contract to Alexandria, Va.-based Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc., (SPA) to provide systems engineering and technical assessment of the Trident 2 Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) Program, according to an announcement by the Defense Department yesterday. Part of SPA’s work will involve Strategic Weapon subsystem assessments and investigations, with an emphasis on the Ohio-class Replacement Program, according to the announcement. SPA will support the preparation of integrated Program Plans and assessments of alternative strategic nuclear program options. “Particular attention will be given to external program influences; using an in-depth knowledge of evolving national, strategic and nuclear weapons policies and of the SSP program,” the announcement states. SPA’s technical services support will include maintenance of notification and internal tracking systems to foster SSP compliance with arms control treaties. Work is expected to be performed from Oct. 1, 2015 to Sept. 30, 2020.
