IN THE STATES

California sold 19.5 million carbon allowances at the price of $11.48 each during its sixth auction held Feb. 19, according to the state’s Air Resources Board. The state also auctioned 9.26 million advance allowances that can be used beginning in 2017 at $11.38 per allowance. The auction was in line with analysts’ expectations, according to Bloomberg News.

AT THE EPA

The Environmental Protection Agency released its draft inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks for public review this week. The inventory summarizes U.S. emissions between 1990 and 2012, and the inventory includes estimates of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons and sulfur hexafluoride emissions.
