The House Science Subcommittee on Energy will discuss the current state of the advanced nuclear reactor sector of the industry in a Wednesday morning hearing with a nuclear official and several industry representatives.
The subcommittee hearing will be held in Room 2318 in the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C. at 10 a.m. Eastern time. According to the subcommittee’s Aug. 26 emailed hearing memo, it will examine the potential needs in advanced nuclear research and demonstration, the Department of Energy’s (DOE) role in advancing nuclear technologies and the results of DOE’s reactor pilot program.
Industry representatives to testify before the House subcommittee will be: Isaiah Taylor, CEO of Valar Atomics; Matt Loszak, CEO of Aalo Atomics; and Jordan Bramble, CEO of Antares Nuclear. Aalo, Antares and Valar were three advanced nuclear companies that achieved criticality by the reactor pilot program’s targeted deadline of Independence Day.
Steven Shannon, head of the department of nuclear engineering at North Carolina State University, and Joe Hoagland, associate lab director for fusion and fission energy science at the DOE’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, will also testify along with the industry members.
